Mohan Raja
Biography
Indian writer-director Mohan Raja is primarily known for his remakes. Son of film editor Mohan, Raja made his directorial debut in 2001 with the Telugu-language film Hanuman Junction. The movie was a remake of the Malayalam movie Thenkasipattanam.
Raja received generally positive reviews for his debut and subsequently went on to remake several Telugu films.
Raja received moderate success after his debut and in 2008 was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Director - Tamil. In 2014, he made his acting debut in Guru Ramesh`s comedy thriller Enna Satham Indha Neram.
It was in 2015 that Raja directed his first original project - Thani Oruvan. Starring Jayram Ravi, Nayantara, and Arvind Swamy, the movie received unanimously positive reviews at the box office with Raja receiving the Edison Award, IIFA Utsavam Award, and Filmfare Award in the Best Director category.
His other notable works include Velaikkaran (2017) and Godfather (2022).
