Mohan Sitara
Biography
Mohan Sitara is an Indian composer and music director best known for his extensive work in Malayalam cinema. He is also credited as a playback singer and background music composer, and is sometimes credited under the alternate name Mohan Sithara.
He began establishing himself as a prominent Malayalam film composer in the late 1980s and subsequently worked on numerous films across several decades. His music is particularly associated with melodic songs and emotionally driven film scores.
Among his notable works are Kudumbapuranam, Varnnakazhchakal (2000), Ishtam (2001), Oomappenninu Uriyadappayyan (2002), Koottu (2004), Hridayathil Sookshikkan (2005) and Sufi Paranja Katha (2010).
Sitara has also contributed to films such as Shakespeare M.A. Malayalam, Athmakadha, Mullamottum Munthiricharum, Idavappathi, Sukhamayirikkatte, Asthra, Ezhuthola, Swargam and Randaam Yaamam. IMDb currently credits him with more than 120 composer credits, along with additional music-department work.
His work has made him a recognizable name in Malayalam film music, with a career spanning several generations of cinema. He has also occasionally performed as a playback singer, demonstrating his involvement in different aspects of film music production.
