M. Padmakumar

Biography

M. Padmakumar is an Indian film director known primarily for his work in Malayalam cinema. He began his career as an assistant director, working with several prominent filmmakers before establishing himself as an independent director.

 

 

Career

Padmakumar made his directorial debut with Ammakilikkoodu in 2003. He followed it with films such as Vargam (2006), Vaasthavam (2006), Parunthu (2008), Shikkar (2010), Thiruvambadi Thamban (2012), Ithu Pathiramanal (2013), Jalam (2015), Kanal (2015), and Aakashamittayi (2017).

One of his most acclaimed films is Joseph (2018), a crime thriller starring Joju George. The film received critical appreciation for its investigative storyline and Joju George's performance, becoming an important milestone in Padmakumar's career.

 

 

Mamangam

Padmakumar directed the historical action film Mamangam (2019), starring Mammootty, Unni Mukundan and Achuthan. The film is set against the historical Mamankam festival held on the banks of the Bharathappuzha at Tirunavaya in the Malabar region.

 

 

Later Work

He continued directing films including Pathaam Valavu (2022), a crime drama, and Queen Elizabeth (2023), a comedy-drama. His filmography also includes D Company and other Malayalam productions.
