Biography

Muzamil, born Aug 25th, 1986 in Jammu and Kashmir, is widely known for the super-hit series Special Ops and critically acclaimed debut film Dhokha. Muzamil started acting at the early age of nine participating in street plays and regional theatre directed and written by his maternal uncle, Mr.Ghulam Rashid Bhatt, who was a notable published regional Playwright. A hobby Muzamil kept through his mid-teens. 

 

He is regarded as one of the top male supermodels of India of all time. His debut film "Dhokha" is considered one of the most critically acclaimed films of Vishesh Films. Muzamil was in the 1st year of pursuing his Engineering, when he won the Gladrags Manhunt pageant in 2003, at the age of 18, becoming the youngest Manhunt title winner in its history. 

 

He soon gained household recognition when he as a teenager featured in the super hit music videos "Pardesia", followed by "Kabhi Aisa Hai", and "Pyaar sirf tumse", by pop singer Lucky Ali. All these music videos were top chartbusters, two of them also won MTV's best music videos and were responsible for turning him into a household name and a teenage heart-throb.

 

 He has been featured and ranked in magazines like GQ, Mansworld, and Vogue as "The Most Eligible Bachelors", of India repeatedly over the years. He is also listed in the Times of India's 50 Most Desirable Men poll continuously over the years. 

 

In the years to follow Muzamil not only walked the ramp for top designers in India but also worked in over 20 International countries like Tokyo, Milan, Germany, Singapore, Malaysia, H.K etc. He has modeled for top International designers and brands like Hugo Boss, Karl Lagerfeld, Givenchy, Jean Paul Gaultier, D&G, CK, Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger, Zegnia, Just Cavalli, Gas, Diesel, Esprit, Nautica, etc. 

 

He has walked for almost 1000 fashion shows Nationally and Internationally and has won several Fashion Awards as a model in India like FTV, GQ, Times Most Stylish Models, etc. Over the years he has endorsed and been ambassador for some of the top brands in India. He was introduced by Mahesh Bhatt as a main lead in the movie Dhokha where he essayed the role of a cop in a leading role, which won him a lot of critical acclaim. 

 

He debuted in his film at the age of 21, in the year 2007. It won him a lot of critical acclaim for his performance from critics and audiences alike and was hailed as the discovery of the decade by critics and journalists. "Dhokha" due to its strong content and performance was made tax-free all over India. 

 

Muzamil was later nominated and awarded for his role in the "Best Debutant Category" for awards like Filmfare, IIFA, Zee Awards, Star TV Awards, etc. His next feature was a comedy film called "Horn, OK, Please," where he played the lead double role, opposite veteran actor and Indian mega-star Nana Partekar. 

 

He later was part of a romantic film, "Will you marry me". He also featured in the music video of two times Academy and Grammy Award Winner, music composer A.R.Rahman. Muzamil in the year 2020 essayed the the role of R.A.W agent, "Agent Avinash" in India's one of the most popular web shows to date "Special Ops," for Disney+Hotstar, directed by Neeraj Pandey and Shivam Nair. 

 

He had to discontinue his studies later owing to his successful career as a model and debuting in films by the 4th year of his college. As a child, Muzamil won the President Bravery Award; and Rashtrapati Award for bravery (Hindi: Jeevan Raksha Padak) on the Indian Republic Day parade from the President of India for saving the life of his fellow student from drowning when he was only in his 3rd standard. 

 

Since Muzamil was the first kid in the history of the state of Jammu and Kashmir to have received such an honor he was later awarded a "Jeevan Raksha Padak" miniature medal by the state of Jammu of Kashmir. Muzamil also won the Godfrey Phillips National Bravery Award in the year 2008 for saving the life of an old British lady from drowning in the Arabian Sea.

 

 Muzammil is the younger of his 3 siblings, Nafisa, Muddasar, and Anisa. He pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering but left it in the very first year after winning Gladrags Manhunt.
