Naganna
Biography
Naganna, also known as B. Naganna, is an Indian film director and writer who primarily works in Kannada cinema. He is the son of producer and distributor R. Lakshman. Naganna began his career as an associate director on Jimmy Gallu (1982), directed by K. S. L. Swamy.
Career
Naganna made his directorial debut with Samrat in 1994. He went on to direct several Kannada films, including Lady Police (1995), Hello Daddy (1996), Lady Commissioner (1997), O Premave (1999), Kotigobba (2001), Gokarna (2003), Vishnu Sena (2005), Gowramma (2005), Bandhu Balaga (2008), and Dubai Babu (2009).
One of his most significant works was the historical drama Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna (2012), based on the life of the Karnataka freedom fighter Sangolli Rayanna. The film starred Darshan and received positive recognition. Naganna won the Times of India Film Award for Best Director for the film.
He later directed Kurukshetra (2019), a Kannada historical epic based on the Mahabharata, and Gimmick (2019). Naganna also served as the head of the panel for the Karnataka State Film Awards for 2015.
