Nagesh Banell

Biography

Nagesh Banell is an Indian cinematographer who primarily works in Telugu cinema. He began his career working on short films and later established himself as a cinematographer in feature films. His first feature film was Pelli Choopulu (2016), which marked an important early milestone in his career.

 

Banell subsequently worked on films including Jayammu Nischayammuu Raa (2016), Fashion Designer S/o Ladies Tailor (2017), Pressure Cooker (2020), Akshara (2021), Merise Merise (2021), and Anubhavinchu Raja (2021). He also served as cinematographer for the Telugu streaming series Aha Naa Pellanta (2022).

 

One of his most recognized works is the supernatural horror film Masooda (2022), directed by Sai Kiran. Banell's cinematography contributed to the film's dark and atmospheric visual style.

He also received recognition for the short film 1947 Two Soldiers (2019), winning the Bronze Award for Best Cinematography at the Global Independent Film Awards and receiving a nomination at the Calcutta International Cult Film Festival.

His later credits include Honey (2026) and the upcoming film KJQ, where he serves as cinematographer.
