Nahas Hidhayath
Biography
Nahas Hidhayath is an Indian film director and screenwriter who primarily works in Malayalam cinema. Born on 27 July 1994 in Kanjirappally, Kerala, he began his career as an assistant director before establishing himself as a filmmaker known for energetic, action-oriented storytelling.
Early Career
Nahas developed an interest in filmmaking from a young age and eventually moved to Kochi in pursuit of opportunities in cinema. During his early years, he worked at a juice shop while trying to enter the film industry. He later connected with filmmaker Basil Joseph and submitted a short film that demonstrated his determination and filmmaking abilities. This led to his opportunity to work as an assistant director on Godha (2017).
He also made a minor acting appearance in Queen (2018), directed by Dijo Jose Antony.
Short Films
Before directing a feature film, Nahas made short films including 14 Days of Love and Colour Padam in 2021. Colour Padam, starring Mamitha Baiju, was both directed and written by him and gained attention online.
The response to his short-film work helped him attract the attention of producers and eventually led to an opportunity to develop a feature film with Weekend Blockbusters.
Directorial Debut – RDX
Nahas made his feature directorial debut with RDX: Robert Dony Xavier in 2023. The action film starred Shane Nigam, Antony Varghese, and Neeraj Madhav in the lead roles. Nahas also received story credit on the film.
Released on 25 August 2023, RDX became a major commercial success and was one of the highest-grossing Malayalam films of the year. The film was particularly noted for its action sequences and energetic presentation. It also won the Best Popular Film award at the Kerala Film Critics Association Awards.
The success of RDX established Nahas as one of the promising young directors in Malayalam cinema and brought him wider recognition.
I'm Game
Nahas's next major project is I'm Game (2026), starring Dulquer Salmaan. The Malayalam action thriller is being produced by Dulquer Salmaan under Wayfarer Films. Nahas is credited as director, while the film's writing team includes Bilal Moidu, Ismail Aboobacker, and Sajeer Baba.
The project represents a significant step forward in Nahas's career, following the success of his debut film. His association with a major star such as Dulquer Salmaan has also generated considerable interest among Malayalam cinema audiences.
