Biography

Nick Frost is an English actor, comedian, screenwriter, and producer known for his distinctive comic performances and collaborations with Simon Pegg and filmmaker Edgar Wright. Born Nicholas John Frost on March 28, 1972, in Hornchurch, Essex, England, he became one of the most recognizable faces in British comedy through television and film.

Early Life and Career

Before becoming an actor, Frost worked in a variety of jobs, including as a waiter, bartender, and cook at a Mexican restaurant. His entry into acting came through his friendship with Simon Pegg. Pegg and Jessica Hynes created the television comedy series Spaced, in which Frost played Mike Watt, a gun-loving character. The series, which began in 1999, gave Frost his first major exposure as a performer.

Frost subsequently appeared in television productions including Black Books, Man Stroke Woman, and Hyperdrive. His early television work established his reputation for combining physical comedy with an understated and distinctive screen presence.

Breakthrough with Shaun of the Dead

Frost's major film breakthrough came with ** Shaun of the Dead (2004)**, directed by Edgar Wright and starring Simon Pegg. Frost portrayed Ed, Shaun's irresponsible but loyal best friend. The horror-comedy became a cult favorite and helped establish Frost as a prominent British comedy actor. The Cornetto Trilogy

Frost, Pegg, and Wright reunited for ** Hot Fuzz (2007)**, in which Frost played police officer Danny Butterman alongside Pegg's Nicholas Angel. The film combined action, comedy, and police-film parody and became another major success for the creative team.

The trio later completed what became known as the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy with The World's End (2013).
