Nina Arianda (born 1984) is an American actress who quickly rose to prominence in the entertainment world with her captivating stage presence and versatile performances. A Tony Award winner, Arianda has demonstrated a remarkable ability to inhabit complex characters across both Broadway and Hollywood.

 

 

Born Nina Arianda Matijcio on September 18, 1984, in Manhattan, New York, Arianda spent parts of her childhood in Clifton, New Jersey, and Heidelberg, Germany. She pursued her passion for acting, earning a Bachelor of Arts from Eugene Lang College, The New School for Liberal Arts, and a Master of Fine Arts from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts Graduate Acting Program in 2009.

 

 

Arianda made a sensational breakthrough shortly after graduation with her 2010 off-Broadway debut in David Ives's comedy-drama "Venus in Fur." Her performance as Vanda Jourdain garnered significant critical acclaim, drawing the attention of the entire New York theater community. 

 

 

The play subsequently transferred to Broadway in 2011, and Arianda's performance continued to be lauded, ultimately earning her the 2012 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play. This followed her earlier Broadway debut in April 2011, starring as Billie Dawn in "Born Yesterday," for which she also received a Tony Award nomination. Her rapid success with back-to-back Tony nominations at such a young age was widely noted.

 

 

Arianda's success on stage quickly led to roles in film and television. In 2011, she appeared in Woody Allen's Oscar-winning film "Midnight in Paris," Tom McCarthy's "Win Win," and Vera Farmiga's "Higher Ground."
