Biography

Rohith Abraham, professionally known as OfRo, is a multifaceted Indian musician, record producer, singer, and songwriter from Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Born on July 19, 1987, he is the son of renowned playback singer Jolly Abraham. OfRo's musical journey began early; he started playing the piano at age seven and later delved into electronic instruments. After graduating from Loyola College, Chennai, he pursued advanced music production studies at SAE Institute in Byron Bay, Australia, completing his education in 2013.

 

OfRo's career commenced in 2014 as an additional programmer for composer Harris Jayaraj on the film Yennai Arindhaal. In 2017, he ventured into independent music with the release of his music video "October Maadham." His significant breakthrough came in 2019 with the critically acclaimed Tamil hip-hop album Therukural, a collaboration with rapper Arivu. The album, addressing themes of caste and class divisions in India, was lauded for its powerful messaging and featured in Rolling Stone India's top ten Indian albums of 2019.

 

 

Beyond his musical creations, ofRo is a co-founder of Atti Culture, an independent record label and production company dedicated to nurturing Tamil talent. He also co-founded Madras Media, a music festival and conference aimed at promoting independent music in South India. These platforms have been instrumental in fostering a vibrant ecosystem for emerging artists.

 

OfRo has collaborated with various artists, including Asal Kolaar, with whom he produced hits like "Jorthaale" and "Adi Odi." His work spans across genres, seamlessly blending traditional Tamil music with contemporary hip-hop and electronic elements. In the film industry, he has contributed as a composer and playback singer for movies such as College Road (2023), Rudhran (2023), and Devil's Double Next Level (2025).
