Omkar Potdar
Biography
Omkar Potdar is an award-winning director and executive producer best known for his character-driven documentary films that explore remarkable figures and stories from the worlds of sports, adventure, music, food, and travel. With nearly two decades of experience in the Indian media industry, Omkar has established himself as one of the leading voices in factual entertainment and non-fiction storytelling.
He served as the creative director and director of Warrior Hunt — India’s first docu-series on Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) — which won the Best Sports Docu-Series Award at the Kenyan International Sports Festival (KISF) 2023, competing against more than 500 entries.
Omkar has worked extensively with major global platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, and Sony LIV.
His notable projects include Sons of Soil — Amazon Prime’s first Indian sports docu-series following Abhishek Bachchan’s Pro Kabaddi team — and Dream On, a Hotstar series highlighting the journeys of emerging IPL players. He also directed and co-produced India’s first five-part series on Baseball for Hotstar and Star Sports, showcasing his versatility across sports genres.
An avid traveler, adventure enthusiast, and mountaineer, Omkar has climbed several Himalayan peaks and summits around the world over the past decade. His passion for exploration deeply influences his storytelling style — blending authenticity, emotion, and visual grandeur.
Having collaborated with international crews across countries, including the U.S.A., South Africa, the U.K., Spain, Argentina, Mexico, Tanzania, Bhutan, and Nepal, Omkar continues to focus on creating and producing original unscripted formats that push creative boundaries and celebrate real human stories.
