Osman Sonant
Biography
Osman Sonant was born on 1 March 1979 in Istanbul, Turkey. He is a Turkish actor who began his acting career in 1997 at the Bahçelievler Municipal Theatre, where he trained under actor Yılmaz Gruda. He later worked with Ferhan Şensoy’s Ortaoyuncular Nöbetçi Theatre before studying stage arts at Istanbul University State Conservatory.
Sonant gained widespread recognition for playing Yavuz in the popular surreal comedy series Leyla ile Mecnun (2011–2013), a role he later reprised when the series returned. He also appeared in Beş Kardeş, Fi, Ufak Tefek Cinayetler, Hot Skull, and Rise of Empires: Ottoman, in which he portrayed Loukas Notaras.
His notable film work includes Pandora's Box (2008), Yangın Var (2011), İtirazım Var (2014), One Love Two Lives (2019), Bihter (2023), Mukadderat (2024), and Umami (2025). For his performance in Pandora's Box, he won the Best Supporting Actor award at the 2009 Golden Boll Film Festival, while his role in Yangın Var earned him the Best Actor award at the 2012 Ankara International Film Festival.
In addition to acting, Sonant has also performed music and contributed to soundtracks, including songs associated with Leyla ile Mecnun and Beş Kardeş.
