Biography
Padmesh is an Indian cinematographer known for his work in Tamil cinema. He has earned recognition for his visual storytelling and technical expertise, receiving several accolades for films such as Eknathji (2019). Over the years, he has explored multiple facets of filmmaking, building a strong foundation through hands-on experience in the industry.
Born in Thuckalay to Marthanda Pillai S and P. Kasthuri, Padmesh completed his schooling in Kanyakumari. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from S.T. Hindu College, Nagercoil. Despite his academic background in science, his passion for cinema led him to move to Chennai to pursue a career in filmmaking. He later obtained a Diploma in Film Technology from the Tamil Nadu Government M.G.R. Film and Television Institute, a turning point that formally launched his journey in the film industry.
Padmesh began his career as an Assistant Cinematographer, working on several notable Tamil films and gaining valuable industry exposure. His early contributions include projects such as Amarkkalam (1999), Gemini (2002), Parthen Rasithen (2000), Paarthale Paravasam (2001), Vasool Raja MBBS (2004), and Attagasam (2004). These experiences helped refine his craft and prepared him for independent responsibilities behind the camera.
He made his debut as a full-fledged cinematographer with the film Murugaa (2007). Following this, he collaborated with various directors across genres, steadily establishing himself as a dependable and skilled cinematographer in Tamil cinema. His work is noted for its visual clarity, mood-driven lighting, and narrative support.
On the personal front, Padmesh is married to M. Madhavi, and the couple has two children. Balancing family life with a demanding creative profession, he continues to contribute to Indian cinema with dedication and artistic commitment.
