Park Jong Mi
Biography
Park Jong-mi is a South Korean composer and music director whose career has played an important role in shaping the sound of Korean television dramas. She is particularly known for her work on productions such as Designated Survivor: 60 Days, Healer, The Kingdom of the Winds, Bread, Love and Dreams, and Beethoven Virus.
Trained in classical piano, Park later earned a graduate diploma in Music for Dance from the Korea National University of Arts. Her musical background has allowed her to work across a wide range of genres, including historical epics, romance, political thrillers, action dramas, and contemporary series.
Among her notable projects is The Kingdom of the Winds, for which she created music with a large-scale orchestral approach. Recording sessions for some of her projects took place internationally, including in Los Angeles, Nashville, and Berlin, reflecting the ambitious production style of Korean television scoring.
Park has also composed numerous opening title themes, developing a distinctive musical identity that helps establish the tone and atmosphere of a drama from its opening moments. Her credits include music for Beethoven Virus, Healer, Bread, Love and Dreams, The Kingdom of the Winds, Goddess of Fire, and Designated Survivor: 60 Days.
Beyond composition, Park has contributed to Korean drama music through lyrics and OST work. She wrote the lyrics for “Missing You Crazy,” performed by Taeyeon of Girls' Generation for The King 2 Hearts. The song received the Best Hallyu Drama OST award at the 2012 Seoul International Drama Awards.
Her work on The Kingdom of the Winds was part of a production that received international recognition, with the drama nominated for Best Drama Series at the 37th International Emmy Awards.
Park Jong-mi has also maintained an extensive body of registered musical work and is a full member of the Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA). Her recent credits include the drama Dear X, which was selected for the 2025 Busan International Film Festival's On Screen section.
With a career spanning numerous Korean television productions, Park Jong-mi is recognized for her versatile orchestration, memorable themes, emotional scoring, and ability to adapt music to dramatically different genres, making her a notable figure in Korean drama music.
