Biography
Subramaniam Panchu Arunachalam, popularly known as Subbu Panchu or P. Ar. Subramaniam is an Indian actor, film producer, voice actor and occasional choreographer who works primarily in Tamil cinema. He was born on November 20, 1969, in Rayavaram, Tamil Nadu. He is the son of noted Tamil writer and producer Panchu Arunachalam.
Subbu Panchu entered the film industry at a young age, appearing as a child artist in the Malayalam film Daisy (1988), directed by Pratap Pothen. He subsequently worked in the production department of his father's production company, P. A. Art Productions, gaining experience behind the scenes.
After a period away from acting, he returned through television, notably appearing in the Tamil serial Arasi. He gained widespread recognition with his performance as Saravanan in the comedy film Boss Engira Bhaskaran (2010). He later became a familiar supporting actor in Tamil films, appearing in Mankatha (2011), Kalakalappu (2012), Chennaiyil Oru Naal (2013), Thalaivaa (2013), Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham (2013), Masss (2015), Etharkkum Thunindhavan (2022) and The Greatest of All Time (2024).
Apart from acting, Subbu Panchu has worked as a producer and has occasionally lent his voice to other actors. His varied work across acting, production and dubbing has made him a recognizable supporting figure in contemporary Tamil cinema.
