Pepsi Pokane

Biography

Pepsi Pokane is a respected television and film producer, entrepreneur, and industry leader with more than 17 years of experience in the entertainment sector. After earning a degree in International Business from Howard University in Washington, D.C., he entered the television industry, working as a presenter, scriptwriter, and producer between 2000 and 2004. He later founded Bonngoe TV, a successful production company known for creating award-winning non-scripted content, including South Africa's longest-running live music television show and popular formats such as I Blew It, Mzansi Cribs Makeover, and Making Moves.

In 2015, Pokane co-founded Stained Glass TV, which grew into South Africa's largest television production company by revenue and production output. The company produced major hits, including the record-breaking soap opera Uzalo, which attracted over 11 million viewers per episode, and The Wife, whose first three seasons achieved remarkable streaming success on Showmax.

Expanding his influence in the industry, Pokane became a shareholder and executive director of Film Afrika Entertainment in 2019. The company is recognized as one of Africa's leading producers of international film and television projects, providing production services to major streaming platforms, Hollywood studios, and global television networks.

Beyond production, Pokane plays an active role in shaping the creative industry. He serves on the Executive Committee of the Independent Producers Organization (IPO), founded International Film Services South Africa (IFSSA), and contributes to national economic and creative-sector development through various leadership positions, including advisory roles linked to President Cyril Ramaphosa's growth initiatives and business councils in Durban and Cape Town.
