Early Life and Career

Landesman was born in New York City and initially established himself as a journalist and writer. His investigative reporting appeared in major publications, and his work often focused on political, social, and human-rights issues.

He later moved into filmmaking, bringing his experience in journalism to stories inspired by true events.

Film Career

Landesman made his feature directorial debut with Parkland (2013), a historical drama about the aftermath of the assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy. The film examines the event from the perspectives of people at Parkland Hospital, the FBI, and others who were directly affected.

He subsequently wrote and directed Concussion (2015), starring Will Smith as forensic pathologist Dr. Bennet Omalu. The film dramatizes Omalu's discovery of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) in former American football players and his struggle to bring attention to the condition.

Landesman also directed Mark Felt: The Man Who Brought Down the White House (2017), starring Liam Neeson as FBI official Mark Felt, the secret source known as "Deep Throat" during the Watergate scandal.

His later directing work includes The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks (2017), a television film based on the story of Henrietta Lacks and the scientific importance of her cells.
