Pradeep Uppoor
Biography
Pradeep Uppoor (18 July 1958 – 13 March 2023) was a distinguished Indian film producer whose work left a deep imprint on parallel cinema, mainstream entertainment, and Indian television. Known for his refined sensibilities and commitment to meaningful storytelling, he played a pivotal role in shaping several acclaimed projects over four decades.
Uppoor began his career producing influential films such as Ardh Satya, Hip Hip Hurray, Aghaat (1985), Holi, Chakra (1981), and Purush. These films, many of which became classics, demonstrated his eye for socially relevant narratives and his ability to support groundbreaking filmmaking.
Beyond cinema, he produced numerous commercials, documentaries, audio-visual projects, and television serials under the banner of Neo Films, expanding his creative footprint across multiple mediums.
In 1994, Pradeep Uppoor co-founded Fireworks Production, a landmark moment in Indian television history. The company went on to create C.I.D., one of India’s most iconic and longest-running police procedural series, solidifying its legacy in the TV industry.
In 2021, he produced Nail Polish, a critically acclaimed ZEE5 original film that showcased his continued dedication to strong, character-driven stories.
