Pratap Pothen was born on August 18, 1952, in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. Raised in a culturally rich environment, he developed an early interest in the arts. Before entering films, he pursued higher education and briefly worked in advertising, which helped shape his creative sensibilities.
