Priti Shahani

Biography

Priti Shahani is a prominent figure in India's media and entertainment industry, with a career spanning over 22 years. Her extensive experience encompasses content creation, production, distribution, syndication, and marketing, establishing her as a notable industry leader. She is also a member of the Council of Management of the Producers Guild of India.

 

 

In 2014, Shahani joined the Times of India Group, where she established the motion pictures division, Junglee Pictures. Under her leadership, the studio produced critically acclaimed and commercially successful films such as "Raazi," "Badhaai Ho," "Bareilly Ki Barfi," "Talvar," and "Junglee." These films received numerous accolades, including multiple National Awards for "Badhaai Ho" and "Talvar." Additionally, "Junglee" won the "Best Action Film" and "Best Action Choreography" awards at the Jackie Chan International Action Film Week in China.

 

 

Before her tenure at the Times of India Group, Shahani served as the Chief Strategy Officer at Reliance Entertainment, an Anil Dhirubhai Ambani company. There, she managed projects from 'script-to-screen' and oversaw the company's overall slate strategy. Under her guidance, the company achieved its first-ever Rs. 100 crore hat-trick with films like "Singham," "Bodyguard," and "Don 2" in 2011.

 

 

Shahani was also a founding member of The Indian Film Company (now known as Viacom18 Motion Pictures), where she was responsible for domestic business operations, including acquisitions, marketing, distribution, and syndication. She played a pivotal role in the marketing and distribution of "Ghajini" in 2008, which was the first film in contemporary times to cross the Rs. 100 crore mark at the domestic box office.

 

 

Earlier in her career, Shahani headed the marketing function at Sahara One Motion Pictures, where she was instrumental in establishing the organization's brand awareness. She also co-founded Hungama.com, a leading entertainment portal, in 1999. Throughout her career, Shahani has worked on over 90 films with various actors and directors, being closely involved in all aspects of the film business, from script development to marketing and rights exploitation across various platforms.
