Biography

Raaghav Dar is a celebrated Indian writer and director, recognized for his work on the Netflix documentary Mumbai Mafia: Police Vs The Underworld (2023) and the musical comedy My Friend Pinto (2011), produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Known for blending humor, music, and gripping storytelling with sharp social commentary, he brings a fresh voice to contemporary Indian cinema.

 

 

An alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India, Raaghav gained early acclaim with his cult short Bombay Summer (2004), which received an honorable mention from BAFTA at Aspen Shortsfest. He began his career assisting Mani Ratnam on Guru (2007) and serving as associate director on Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na (2008), while also writing the screenplay for the political drama Lamhaa: The Untold Story of Kashmir (2010).

 

 

His directorial debut, My Friend Pinto (2011), showcased his quirky humor and stylized storytelling, establishing him as a rising voice in indie cinema. Since then, Raaghav has directed the docudrama series Adrishya: True Stories of Indian Espionage (2014), contributed creatively to Chuck Russell’s Junglee (2019), written dialogue for Shadow Assassins (2022), and directed Mumbai Mafia (2023), which earned critical acclaim and a Filmfare OTT Award nomination for Best Documentary.
