Rabbi Shergill was born on 26 March 1974 in Murree and grew up in Delhi. He studied philosophy at the University of Delhi, which had a deep influence on his songwriting and lyrical themes.
From an early age, he was drawn to music, learning guitar and exploring various genres, including rock, blues, and traditional Punjabi music.
Breakthrough and Rise to Fame
Rabbi Shergill rose to fame with his iconic song Bulla Ki Jaana (2005). Based on the poetry of Bulleh Shah, the song became a massive hit and introduced a new sound to Indian audiences—fusion rock rooted in Sufi philosophy.
