Radhika Rao

Biography

Radhika Rao is a prominent Indian film director known for her collaborations with Vinay Sapru. She debuted as a film director with Lucky: No Time for Love (2005), co-directed with Sapru. The film, starring Salman Khan, received mixed reviews but was appreciated for its visuals and music. Critics noted its ambitious cinematography, though opinions on its pacing and execution were divided.

Her next project, I Love NY (2015), also co-directed with Sapru, featured Kangana Ranaut and Prem Chopra. The film garnered mixed reviews, with some praising the performances but criticizing the story for its implausibility.

In 2016, Rao co-directed Sanam Teri Kasam, a romantic drama starring Mawra Hocane. While the performances were lauded, critics were less favorable about the overall execution, noting its melodramatic approach.

In 2023, she co-directed Yaariyan 2, which received a mixed response from reviewers. While the trailer garnered significant attention online, critics described the film as overly reliant on music video-like sequences rather than a strong narrative.

Beyond feature films, Rao and Sapru have an extensive portfolio of over 100 music videos created over two decades. They have collaborated with renowned artists like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Arijit Singh, and Neha Kakkar. Their work with T-Series, under Bhushan Kumar's leadership, further solidified their reputation in the Indian music and film industry. Together, Rao and Sapru also run their own production company, Rao & Sapru.
