Ralph Winter

Biography

One of the most popular film producers in Hollywood, Ralph Winter is known for producing some of the biggest blockbusters the world cinema has ever seen. His illustrious production ventures include X-Men, Star Trek Series, Planet of the Apes, the Fantastic Four series, and I, Robot to name a few. 

 

The founder of 1019 Entertainment, a production company, that he formed with Terry Botwick in 2010, is also a member of the prestigious Directors Guild of America and the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. His films collectively have grossed more than a whopping two billion dollars (USD) worldwide.

An alumnus of the University of California, Berkeley his first experience in production was with the Broadway Department Stores where he produced training videos for the staff. He started his career in the film industry in 1978 and he produced TV series like Happy Days, Mork and Mindy, and Laverne & Shirley for Paramount Pictures. 

 

His maiden film production venture was Star Trek III: The Search for Spook (1984) and he later produced the next three films in the series. His other notable production ventures include X-Men (2000), Captive (2015), and Adrift (2018), an action-adventure drama starring Shailene Woodley, Sam Claflin, and Elizabeth Hawthorne.
