Biography

Ravi Babu is a renowned Indian actor, director, producer, and writer, predominantly active in the Telugu film industry. Born in Poranki, near Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, he hails from a family deeply rooted in cinema; his father, Chalapathi Rao, was a celebrated character actor in Telugu films. Ravi Babu's early education took him across Chennai, Pune, and the United States, before he eventually settled in Hyderabad.

Career Journey

Ravi Babu's cinematic journey began in the late 1990s. He made his acting debut in the film Lovestory 1999 (1998) and subsequently appeared in several notable Telugu films, including Murari (2001), Ammailu Abbailu (2003), and Pallakilo Pellikuthuru (2004). His versatility allowed him to portray a wide range of characters, from comedic roles to intense villains, earning him recognition across various genres.

In 2002, Ravi Babu transitioned to filmmaking with his directorial debut, Allari, which was well-received and marked the beginning of his successful career as a director. He went on to direct several acclaimed films, including Nachavule (2008), Amaravathi (2009), Avunu (2012), and Adhugo (2018), showcasing his ability to experiment with different genres and storytelling techniques. His film Adhugo was particularly notable for featuring India's first live-action 3D animated title character—a piglet named Bunty.

Beyond directing, Ravi Babu has also produced and written numerous films under his production banner, Flying Frogs, which he established in 1999. The company initially focused on producing television commercials but later expanded into feature film production. Through Flying Frogs, Ravi Babu has collaborated with prominent entities like ETV Network and Suresh Productions, contributing to the growth and diversification of Telugu cinema.

Ravi Babu is married to Tanuja, a school teacher, and the couple has two children. They reside in Hyderabad, balancing their personal lives with Ravi Babu's dynamic career in the film industry.
