Renzil D'Silva is a prominent Indian writer, director, and producer, known for his impactful contributions to both Bollywood films and Indian television. Born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, D'Silva has established a reputation for crafting engaging narratives across various genres.

 

 

Early Career and Transition to Screenwriting

D'Silva began his career in advertising, working as a Creative Director for nearly two decades at renowned agencies like JWT, Rediffusion, Saatchi & Saatchi, Mudra DDB, and Ogilvy and Mather. He even co-founded O&M's second agency, Meridian, in 2008. During this period, he garnered numerous international and national awards for his advertising work, showcasing his talent for concise and compelling storytelling.

 

 

His passion for cinema eventually led him to transition into screenwriting. He made his debut as a screenplay writer with Amitabh Bachchan's Aks in 2001. However, it was his screenplay for the critically acclaimed and commercially successful Rang De Basanti (2006) that brought him widespread recognition. The film, a powerful commentary on youth and patriotism, earned him significant praise and solidified his standing as a talented writer.

 

 

Directorial Debut and Television Ventures

Renzil D'Silva made his directorial debut with the Hindi film Kurbaan in 2009, a thriller starring Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan. The film, which also saw him contribute to the screenplay, was produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and received nominations for various Indian awards.

 

 

Beyond feature films, D'Silva has made significant inroads into television. He is notably credited for writing and directing the Indian adaptation of the popular American series, 24: India, starring Anil Kapoor.
