Biography

Resham, born Saima Shah, is a Pakistani film and television actress and model from a Punjabi family in Lahore. She lost her mother at the age of seven and was raised by her elder sister. She completed her early education up to matriculation before entering the entertainment industry.

 

 

Career
Resham began her acting career with minor roles in television dramas and made her film debut with Jeeva in 1995. She quickly rose to prominence in Lollywood, starring in successful films such as Ghunghat (1996), Sangam (1997) — for which she won a National Award for Best Actress — Dupatta Jal Raha Hai (1998), and Inteha (1999). She also received the Nigar Award for Best Actress for Jannat Ki Talash (1999).

 

 

After a slowdown in the Pakistani film industry in the early 2000s, Resham made a cameo in Love Mein Ghum (2011) and returned to lead roles with Swaarangi (2014), a social drama highlighting drug addiction. She has since appeared in television dramas such as Naagin (2017–2019), Noor Bibi (2019), and Muthi Bhar Chahat (2019). In films, she recently appeared in The Legend of Maula Jatt (2022) and Gunjal, inspired by the Iqbal Masih case.

 

 

Personal Life
Resham has kept her personal life relatively private, publicly denying marriage rumors in 2019 that had surfaced earlier. She has also expressed her views on social issues, such as supporting Ali Zafar during harassment allegations in 2018.

 

 

Charity Work
Resham has been actively involved in charitable work. During the 2010 floods, she sent relief supplies to affected areas and has financially supported struggling actors, technicians, and dancers in Lahore.
