Richard Bhakti Klein

Biography

Richard Bhakti Klein, known popularly by his stage name R. Bhakti Klein, is an American actor who has appeared in supporting roles in several Indian films. Notable among these is the Telugu movie Nannaku Prematho (2016), the Bollywood coming-of-age comedy-drama Dear Zindagi (2016), and the Punjabi war drama Sajjan Singh Rangroot (2018).

Besides acting, Richard is also a professional musician, voiceover artist, and meditation facilitator. More recently, he was seen in the road comedy Karwaan (2018), the musical drama Gully Boy (2019), the Telugu film Maharshi (2019), Bharat (2019), Judgemental Hai Kya (2019) and The Zoya Factor (2019). His 2020 releases include Love Aaj Kal, directed by Imtiaz Ali.

 

R. Bhakti Klein grew up in South Florida and lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for several years before relocating to Mumbai, India in 2009. He's been a professional singer, guitarist, writer, voiceover artist, math and science teacher, meditation facilitator, vocal coach, folk dancer, lifeguard, and singing telegram deliverer, among other things. He calls living in India "a dream come true".

 

Bhakti worked as a professional singer and guitarist for many years and still performs and teaches music in Mumbai.

 

Bhakti is a big Deadhead and saw over 150 live Grateful Dead concerts with Jerry Garcia.

 

Bhakti studied Religion as an undergraduate at the University of Florida and Consciousness Studies in the graduate program at John F. Kennedy University in Orinda, California.
