Richard Wenk, born on May 6, 1956, in Metuchen, New Jersey, is a distinguished American screenwriter and director renowned for his contributions to the action genre. He graduated from Metuchen High School in 1974 and earned his degree from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts in 1979.

 

 

Wenk's career in the film industry commenced with his role as a production assistant on John Huston's 1982 film Annie. He made his directorial debut with the 1986 black comedy Vamp, which he also wrote. This opportunity arose after producer Donald P. Borchers was impressed by Wenk's NYU thesis film, Dracula Bites the Big Apple.

 

 

Throughout his career, Wenk has demonstrated versatility by engaging in various roles, including acting. In 1998, he wrote, directed, and acted in the film Just the Ticket. He also directed the slasher film Wishcraft in 2002.
