Robbie Amell

Biography

Robbie Amell, born April 21, 1988, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is a Canadian-American actor and producer. He is best known for Upload, The Flash, The Tomorrow People, Code 8, and The DUFF.

Early Life and Career

Amell began acting as a child and took part in theater productions as a teenager. His first major film appearance came in Cheaper by the Dozen 2 (2005). He subsequently appeared in television series such as Life with Derek, True Jackson, VP, and Pretty Little Liars, as well as the Scooby-Doo television films, where he played Fred Jones.

Breakthrough

Amell gained a leading role as Stephen Jameson in the science-fiction series The Tomorrow People (2013–2014). He later became known to superhero audiences as Ronnie Raymond/Firestorm in The Flash. His other notable film roles include The DUFF (2015), Nine Lives (2016), The Babysitter (2017), and Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (2021).

Upload

One of Amell's most prominent roles is Nathan Brown in the science-fiction comedy series Upload (2020–2025), created by Greg Daniels. The series follows Nathan after his death as his consciousness is uploaded into a virtual afterlife. Amell's performance made Nathan one of his best-known television characters.

Code 8

Amell also co-developed the Code 8 franchise with his cousin Stephen Amell. He starred as Connor Reed in the 2016 short film and the 2019 feature film, while also serving as a producer. He returned as Connor in Code 8: Part II (2024), which he also produced.
