Biography

Roberta Colindrez is a Mexican-American actress and writer, born on May 28, 1986, in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. She moved to the United States as a child and grew up in Houston and Austin, Texas. She developed an interest in acting at the age of 12 and later studied acting at Texas State University.

 

Colindrez began her professional career in theater and made her off-Broadway debut in Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind in 2006. She gained significant recognition for originating the role of Joan in the acclaimed musical Fun Home, first off-Broadway and later on Broadway, where the production won five Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

 

Her screen career includes appearances in Girls, Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014), I Love Dick, The Deuce, Vida, Mrs. America, Monsterland, and Ms. White Light. She also appeared in the film Cassandro (2023) and the Netflix miniseries Eric (2024).

 

Colindrez became widely recognized for playing Lupe García in the Amazon Prime Video series A League of Their Own (2022). The series follows women who join a professional baseball league during World War II, with Colindrez portraying the tough and determined Mexican-American pitcher of the Rockford Peaches.

 

In addition to acting, Colindrez has worked as a writer and director. Her career spans theater, film, television, and voice work, with notable performances in Fun Home, I Love Dick, Vida, A League of Their Own, and Cassandro.
