Robert De Grasse was an American cinematographer known for his work in Hollywood from the 1930s through the 1950s. He was born on February 9, 1900, in Massachusetts, United States.
De Grasse began working in the film industry during the silent era and became a director of photography on numerous films. His cinematography covered genres ranging from drama and romance to crime and comedy.
Some of his notable credits include The Big Broadcast of 1932 (1932), The 39 Steps (1935), The Hurricane (1937), The Great McGinty (1940), The Glass Key (1942), The Stranger (1946), and The Enforcer (1951). He was particularly associated with RKO Radio Pictures, where he worked on many productions.
Robert De Grasse was the father of cinematographer Robert Burks, who later became known for his work with director Alfred Hitchcock.
He died on March 28, 1971, in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 71.
