Robert Haggiag
Biography
Robert Haggiag was an Italian film producer who played an important role in international and Italian cinema. He was born in 1913 in Tripoli, Libya, and died on March 1, 2009, in Rome, Italy, aged 95.
Haggiag began his career in film distribution, including distributing major Hollywood films in Italy, before moving into production. He became associated with the DEAR company and produced or co-produced numerous films.
His notable credits include The Thief of Venice (1950), The Barefoot Contessa (1954), Legend of the Lost (1957), The Birds, the Bees and the Italians (1966), The Climax (1967), Candy (1968), and The Swindle (1977). He was also an executive producer of the television miniseries Lady Chatterley (1993).
Haggiag was the producer of Candy (1968), directed by Christian Marquand and starring Ewa Aulin, Marlon Brando, Richard Burton, James Coburn, and Ringo Starr.
He was also recognized for his contribution to Italian cinema, receiving the David di Donatello Award for Best Production in 1966.
