Robert Sheehan
Biography
Robert Sheehan was born on 7 January 1988 in Portlaoise, County Laois, Ireland. He is an Irish actor known for his work in television, film, and theatre. He studied film and television at the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology before pursuing acting professionally.
Sheehan gained early recognition for his role as Nathan Young in the British supernatural series Misfits (2009–2010), earning a BAFTA nomination for his performance. He also portrayed Darren Tracey in the Irish crime drama Love/Hate and appeared in films including Cherrybomb, Killing Bono, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, Geostorm, and Mortal Engines.
His biggest international breakthrough came with Netflix's The Umbrella Academy (2019–2024), in which he played Klaus Hargreeves / Number Four, a superpowered member of the dysfunctional Hargreeves family who can communicate with the dead. He appeared throughout all four seasons of the series.
Sheehan has also maintained a strong theatre career, performing in productions such as The Playboy of the Western World, The Wars of the Roses, Endgame, and Withnail and I. He published his book Disappearing Act: A Host of Other Characters in 16 Short Stories in 2021 and later wrote Playing Dead: How Meditation Brought Me Back to Life.
