Robin Ghosh was born on 13 September 1939 in Baghdad, Iraq, to a Bengali Christian family. His father worked abroad, and the family later moved to East Pakistan (now Bangladesh), where Ghosh grew up surrounded by music and cultural influences. His mother, a trained classical singer, played a major role in nurturing his musical talent. From a young age, he developed an ear for melody and harmony, eventually becoming skilled in both singing and composition.
