Biography
Ryu Seung-ryong, born 29 November 1970 in Seoul, South Korea, is a South Korean actor known for his versatility in film and television. He studied theatre at the Seoul Institute of the Arts and began his career performing on stage before moving into Korean cinema.
He gained recognition through films such as War of the Arrows (2011), All About My Wife (2012), Masquerade (2012), and Miracle in Cell No. 7 (2013). His performance in Miracle in Cell No. 7 earned him the Grand Prize at the Baeksang Arts Awards and the Best Actor award at the Grand Bell Awards.
Ryu later starred in the blockbuster The Admiral: Roaring Currents (2014) and the hugely successful comedy Extreme Job (2019). He became internationally recognized for playing Jo Hak-joo in Netflix's historical zombie series Kingdom (2019–2020).
His other notable television work includes Moving (2023), while his recent credits include Chicken Nugget (2024), Low Life (2025), and The Dream Life of Mr. Kim (2025).
