Biography

Saim Ayub was born on May 24, 2002, in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. Growing up in a cricket-loving family, with his father, Ayub Ahmed, and uncle, Mohammad Javed, both having played cricket at the club level, Saim was introduced to the sport at a young age. He began his cricket journey with tape-ball cricket in Gulistan-e-Johar, Karachi, receiving support and guidance from his father and two elder brothers.

 

 

Domestic and Franchise Career

Saim made his Twenty20 debut for Quetta Gladiators in the 2021 Pakistan Super League (PSL) on February 20, 2021. Although his initial stint didn't yield significant performances, leading to his exclusion from the squad in the following season, he remained determined to improve his game.

 

 

In March 2022, he made his List A debut for Sindh in the Pakistan Cup, followed by his first-class debut in September 2022 during the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. His consistent performances in domestic cricket caught the attention of selectors and fans alike.

 

 

The 2023 PSL season marked a turning point in Saim's career. Playing for Peshawar Zalmi, he scored his maiden PSL half-century off 33 deliveries, drawing comparisons to the legendary Saeed Anwar. Later that year, on November 4, he earned his first One Day International (ODI) cap against Australia.

 

 

As of December 22, 2024, Saim has played six Test matches, scoring 323 runs with an average of 26.91, including three half-centuries. In ODIs, he has featured in nine matches, accumulating 515 runs at an impressive average of 64.37, with three centuries and one fifty.
