Biography

Sajid-Farhad is a Bollywood writing and directing duo comprising brothers, Sajid Samji, and Farhad Samji. Born on 20 August 1967 and 5 May 1974, respectively, Sajid and Farhad are one of the Indian film industry`s most sought-after teams, courtesy of their witty dialogues and entertaining storylines. Several of their movies have gone on to gross over 100 crore INR at the box office.

Sajid-Farhad moved from Bangalore to Mumbai in 2002, with a bank of songs that they pitched to Bollywood actors, producers, and directors. After being impressed by some of their songs, Bollywood icon Salman Khan recommended them to director David Dhawan. In 2002, they were selected by Dhawan as lyricists for Hum Kisise Kum Nahin. Their big break, however, came two years later when their song `M Bole Toh` in the movie Munnabhai MBBS captured the audience.

The duo was then roped in as writers for Ram Gopal Varma`s 2006 film Shiva, followed by the 2008 movies Sunday and Golmaal Returns. They went on to write scripts and dialogues for films like Golmaal 3, Singham, Housefull 2, Bol Bachchan, and Chennai Express. All five of these films earned over 100 crore INR at the box office, making the duo one of Bollywood`s most popular writing teams.

In 2014, Sajid-Farhad made their directorial debut with the movie Entertainment starring Akshay Kumar. In 2016, they directed another Akshay Kumar film, Housefull 3, also starring Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Lisa Haydon, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Nargis Fakhri. Their 2019 release includes Prassthanam.
