Biography
Golden Globe-nominated actor Sam Elliott is a veteran of American cinema and television and has appeared in around fifty feature films and as many TV shows in a career spanning over five decades. His rugged looks, lanky build, and deep voice have enabled him to convincingly portray several memorable characters in Westerns.
Elliott is perhaps best familiar to the audience for essaying the role of Wade Garrett in the action film Road House (1989), the unnamed narrator in the cult classic The Big Lebowski (1998), and Sgt. Maj. Basil Plumley in the war film We Were Soldiers (2002).
His work in TV shows like The Yellow Rose (1983-'84), Buffalo Girls (1995), Parks and Recreation (2009-'15) and The Ranch (2016-) have made Elliott a familiar face to generations of television viewers; the second of which earned him Golden Globes and Primetime Emmy nominations in 1996.
Other significant movie credits include the superhero film Ghost Rider (2007), the comedy-drama Up in the Air (2009), The Hero (2017), and the musical romantic drama A Star is Born (2018).
