Biography

Sam Spruell is an English actor known for his work in film and television. He has built a career portraying a wide range of characters, particularly in crime dramas, thrillers, historical productions and action films.

Early Life

Sam Spruell was born on January 1, 1968, in Southall, London, England. He developed an interest in acting and went on to establish himself as a character actor in British and international productions.

Career

Spruell began his screen career in the 1990s, appearing in British television programs and films. His early credits included roles in productions such as The Bill, Prime Suspect and Kavanagh QC.

He subsequently appeared in films including K-19: The Widowmaker (2002), Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007), and Defiance (2008). His ability to portray intense and authoritative characters helped him become a familiar presence in dramatic productions.

One of his notable performances came in The Hurt Locker (2008), the Academy Award-winning war thriller directed by Kathryn Bigelow. He also appeared in Snow White & the Huntsman (2012), playing Finn, the brother of the Evil Queen.

Spruell later took on roles in major film and television productions, including Taken 3 (2014), Legend (2015), The Last Kingdom (2015–2022), Fargo (2017), and The Northman (2022).
