She gained major recognition on Broadway for her role as Sarah Brown in the original production of Guys and Dolls in the 1950s revivals.

 

Her notable film appearances include The Sandpiper (1965), The Tiger Makes Out (1967), and The Ugly American (1963). She also appeared in television productions and continued performing on stage.

 

Church was particularly admired for her singing ability and dramatic performances. Her career included collaborations with several prominent figures in American theatre and cinema.
