Sandra Oh
Biography
Sandra Oh is a Canadian-American actress, born on July 20, 1971, in Nepean, Ontario, Canada. She developed an interest in acting as a child and studied at the National Theatre School of Canada before beginning her professional career in television, theater, and film.
Oh gained early recognition for her performances in The Diary of Evelyn Lau and Double Happiness. She later appeared in films including Under the Tuscan Sun, Sideways, Hard Candy, and Tammy. Her performance in Sideways earned her a Screen Actors Guild Award as part of the ensemble.
Her breakthrough came with the medical drama Grey's Anatomy, where she played Dr. Cristina Yang from 2005 to 2014. The role earned her a Golden Globe Award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and five Primetime Emmy nominations.
In 2018, Oh took on another acclaimed role as Eve Polastri in the spy thriller Killing Eve. Her performance earned her a Golden Globe and multiple Emmy nominations, making her the first actress of Asian descent to receive an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
