Jayakumar, born on November 21, 1988, in Chennai, India, is an Indian film director, screenwriter, and occasional actor who has garnered attention for his distinctive approach to filmmaking, particularly in the realm of adult comedies and thrillers within the Tamil and Telugu film industries.

Early Life and Career Beginnings

Santhosh P. Jayakumar completed his schooling at A.V. Meiyappan M.H.S.S in Virugambakkam, Chennai. He began his journey in the film industry as an assistant to director M. Saravanan, gaining practical experience before stepping into the director's chair.

He made his directorial debut in 2015 with Gaddam Gang, the Telugu remake of the acclaimed Tamil film Soodhu Kavvum (2013). This venture showcased his initial foray into direction and his ability to adapt popular narratives.

Rise to Prominence with Genre Films

Santhosh truly rose to prominence in the Tamil film industry with his unique take on the adult comedy genre. His Tamil directorial debut, Hara Hara Mahadevaki (2017), starring Gautham Karthik, became a significant talking point. He continued this trajectory with the controversial yet commercially successful Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu (2018), also featuring Gautham Karthik. The success of this film led him to direct its Telugu remake, Chikati Gadilo Chithakotudu (2019), and a Tamil sequel, Irandam Kuththu (2020), in which he also made his acting debut in a prominent role.

While these films sparked debate due to their adult themes, they solidified his reputation for delivering films that resonate with a specific audience segment and often perform well at the box office.
