Biography
Sapan has been the lead director of photography on numerous high-end dramas and features. His commercials and films have won awards and screened at numerous festivals.
Sapan is a cinephile with a passion for films ranging from auteur and experimental films to commercial and genre cinema.
An autodidact, for the last 18 years his route to direction and cinematography took him through an off-beat path of compositing, cg visual effects, and post-production supervision for features and high-end dramas, giving him the opportunity to learn from some of the best traditional artists, tech gurus and directors in the industry.
He has mentored hundreds of artists from traditional 2D art backgrounds in 3D workflow, and later in cinematography at MAAC and FX School.
Sapan believes in the concept of Karma. Being a hands-on person and connected to his roots, he is a correct blend of tradition and modern age. For him, learning is a never-ending process, and has seen many failures in life, but to fall, get up, learn, and grow.
