Sarah Flack is an acclaimed American film editor best known for her long-standing collaborations with influential independent filmmakers, particularly Steven Soderbergh and Sofia Coppola. Career

Flack began her career as a production assistant on the film Kafka, where she first met director Steven Soderbergh. After working as an assistant editor on several independent films, she was allowed to edit Soderbergh’s self-financed experimental feature Schizopolis. The project marked the beginning of an enduring creative partnership, followed by collaborations on The Limey and Full Frontal.

 

 

Her career reached wider recognition through her work with Sofia Coppola, starting with Lost in Translation. The film earned Flack the BAFTA Award for Best Editing and went on to win multiple honors, including a Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and the Independent Spirit Award for Best Film. Flack continued to work closely with Coppola on Marie Antoinette, Somewhere, The Bling Ring, The Beguiled, and On the Rocks, contributing significantly to the director’s distinctive, intimate cinematic style.
