Biography
Saravanan Surya Mani (1940 – 4 December 2025), popularly known as AVM Saravanan, was an Indian film producer associated with Tamil cinema. He was part of the renowned AVM Productions, a production house established in 1945 by his father, legendary filmmaker A. V. Meiyappan, a pioneer of the Tamil film industry.
During his career, Saravanan was involved in several successful films, including Naanum Oru Penn, Samsaram Adhu Minsaram, Minsara Kanavu, Sivaji: The Boss, Vettaikaran, Ayan, and Leader. He was the father of film producer M. S. Guhan and also owned the iconic AVM Studios in Chennai. As a producer, he received two Filmfare Awards South and served as the Sheriff of Madras in 1986.
AVM Saravanan passed away on 4 December 2025 at the age of 85. He had been dealing with health-related issues for several years and was undergoing treatment intermittently before his death.
