Biography
Sathyan Sooryan is an acclaimed Indian cinematographer known for his work in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam films. He studied at the College of Fine Arts in Chennai, where he honed his skills before starting his professional journey in cinema. His early career saw him working as an assistant to the renowned cinematographer P. C. Sreeram, which greatly influenced his technical expertise and visual storytelling abilities
Sathyan made his debut as a cinematographer with the 2011 Tamil film Yuddham Sei, a thriller that garnered attention for its compelling use of lighting and framing, helping to enhance the film’s suspense. He later worked on Mugamoodi (2012), which further showcased his skill in working with diverse genres. His 2015 project Maya, a supernatural horror, earned critical acclaim for its effective use of visuals to build tension
Over the years, Sathyan worked on several successful films, gaining recognition for his work on Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru (2017), a crime thriller, where his wide-angle shots captured the vast, desolate landscapes, adding depth to the story.
