Bloom's early acting roles include the cult horror film The Stuff (1985) and the sitcom Who's the Boss? (1987–1988), where he played Jesse Nash. He continued to build his career with appearances in various TV movies and series.
In the early 2000s, Bloom expanded into film, acting in Don's Plum (2001) alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire, and John Q (2002) with Denzel Washington. He also appeared in Smokin' Aces (2006), sharing the screen with actors like Ray Liotta and Ryan Reynolds.
