Scott M. Gimple

Biography

Scott M. Gimple, born on March 29, 1971, in New Jersey, USA, is an accomplished American writer and producer for both television and comics.   

 

 

Gimple began his career in animation, writing and producing for Walt Disney Television Animation and Nickelodeon. He created and executive-produced the Emmy-nominated animated series "Fillmore!" for Disney. Earlier in his career, he also worked for Bongo and Marvel Comics, including the comic series "Heroes Anonymous" and the miniseries "Punisher: Nightmare."   

 

 

He transitioned to live-action television, writing for series such as "Life," "Drive," and "FlashForward," where he also served as executive story editor. Gimple co-wrote the screenplay for the film "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance."   

 

 

In 2011, Gimple joined AMC's "The Walking Dead" as a producer and writer. He rose through the ranks, becoming the showrunner for seasons 4 through 8. During his time as showrunner, "The Walking Dead" achieved significant critical and ratings success. Following his tenure as showrunner, he was promoted to Chief Content Officer of the "Walking Dead" universe, overseeing the expansion of the franchise, including "Fear the Walking Dead" and "The Walking Dead: World Beyond," which he co-created.   

 

 

More recently, Gimple served as the showrunner and executive producer for "The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live" in 2024. He also has writing credits on several episodes of the "Walking Dead" franchise and created the comic book series "Die! Die! Die!" with Robert Kirkman.
