Scott Neustadter
Biography
Scott Neustadter is an American screenwriter and producer best known for his collaborations with Michael H. Weber. Born in Margate City, New Jersey, he studied film at the University of Pennsylvania and later earned a master's degree from the London School of Economics. He began his professional career working in film development at Tribeca Productions before moving into screenwriting.
Neustadter and Weber achieved their breakthrough with 500 Days of Summer (2009), a romantic comedy-drama inspired in part by Neustadter's own experiences with relationships. The success of the film established the pair as prominent screenwriters and led to further collaborations on projects including The Spectacular Now (2013), The Fault in Our Stars (2014), Paper Towns (2015), and The Disaster Artist (2017).
For The Disaster Artist, Neustadter and Weber received an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay. They also worked on Our Souls at Night and Rosaline, expanding their work into adaptations of literary material.
Neustadter later moved into television, co-creating the series Friends with Benefits. His most prominent television project is Daisy Jones & the Six (2023), which he developed with Michael H. Weber from Taylor Jenkins Reid's novel. Neustadter also served as a writer and executive producer on the Amazon Prime Video miniseries.
